Merc issue & handling PIs

Hello there.

I've just made my first untraded runeword this ladder - a 27allres forti in a socred armor (1850def). Thus, might merc does close to no increase in damage (500 from frenzy+300 from forty only, who cares about merc's 200?), and I'm thinking on different merc choices. Defiance merc is going to do no good as well (iron skin and shout lessen the % difference a lot, though i have ~14k defence with chilling armor activated).

On the other hand, there is a holy freeze merc, which slows enemies and reported to have significant non-physical damage bonus to jab. Have someone tried this one, and how does really it helps on hell (the % of chilling freeze, and how does it work on bosses)?

Also, is there any point in using act 3 mercs?|||Your might merc (or act2 merc in general) could use a Reapers Toll. The merc might care about his might aura, it will help him leech to stay alive .

Blessed Aim for AR maybe if needed?

Berzerk for PI's?|||Might's effect on your damage may not be very substantial, but I struggle to believe that it's basically unnoticeable. Blessed aim isn't a bad idea though. What's your AR and what weapons are you using?

Berserk for PIs. Here Reaper's Toll (and/or holy freeze) helps a lot since if they're mana burn they're going to annoy the crap out of you.|||Quote:

I have used my second respect to wear Bul-kathos, but it's very low for act 5 and now I look ahead for beast-edeath or something... Might makes a total difference of 10% - which I can easily get rid of for some better option. With some dex boosted up for swords reqs, and demon limb for lvl23 enchant on switch, my AR is somewhat less than 13k, which I think is enough and blessed aim won't make any difference too.

Berserk is good but reqs 3 hard points, I wonder if there's another way with no need to swap weapons/skill every time I have PI in my target.

Reaper's for decripify? I'm using Atma's now for chance amplify, reaper's might be a better option.|||Really you should be fine with 1 point berserk. Then your merc has no need for reapers toll.|||^seconded ^^|||Quote:

^seconded ^^

Please explain your post better. It makes no since to me.|||Quote:

he said he agreeed with the guy that above him. In this case it was you lol.|||If you don't want to put a point in berserk for PI, there are a couple other options.

1) Lawbringer as offhand weapon. The sanctuary aura totally negates any physical resistance of undead, and the decrepify curse will lower other physical resists by 50%, usually breaking a rare demon that has physical immune.

2) 2x Gimmershred on weapon switch. Since you put a point in double throw anyway, why not?

3) Atma's Scarab.

4) Merc With Reaper's Toll. You should be getting this or Pride for merc anyway for endgame.

5) Azurewraith ^^

6) Frostwind +Djinn Slayer on switch.|||I second Damric's suggestion...it's always a good idea to have a lawbringer on switch. Once the decrip gets activated you can always switch back to your main weapon and hack away.

I'm currently using a blessed aim merc with an infinity...I noticed that even with the lvl 12 conviction aura hitting the PI's it's still difficult to do any significant damage. I'm assuming the conviction aura doesn't significantly lower the physical resistance.
