Recently started D2 again and i remembered hearing that with 1 of the patches weapon masteries got nerfed and it wasn't worth maxing 1 any more?
I tried to go thro the guides to find an answer but they all seem to be so old and mostly outdated on the skills section.|||i dont see why you wouldn't max one
but what i do is 1 in sword, mace and axe at the start when i dont know what end game gear ill be useing
and i only really max one if i have points left over from the build iam playin so its one of the last skills id max|||that's good to hear as that is exactly what i am doing, 1 in sword/axe/mace.
My build isnt exactly tight on skill points i just don't fancy limiting myself down to 1 set of weapons as im basically using whatever i find at the time.|||I always just pick a weapon and max a mastery. Most finds are going to be discarded until you are hell viable anyway.
Best of all is to max mastery for ww builds, since there is no associated mana cost.
Hard to beat all the passive damage added to any skill you choose. Besides, now you have 3 chances to completely restat you character, so the decision is not as relevant as it used to be.
Peace|||Any guide that's dated 2005 or more recent is usually still valid in all aspects. Usually.
Like Barloc, I just decide on a weapon and go with it. Like Barloc also said, the option to respec means you can decide later as well.
It is worth maxing Weapon Mastery if:
1. BO is already maxed out.
2. Your main skill is maxed out (exception: Stun, but not like anyone uses that).
3. 5% ED/8% AR is a better option than your main skill's synergy.|||As said above, whirlers will max it as there's not much else to do and every bit of ed helps. With frenzy and especially zerkers and hybrid builds, it maybe a better idea to look at the levels at which crit strike gets a percentage point added. You can take into account your end-game +skills and battle command to get at a good breakpoint. Talk about min-maxing :P|||hhmmm just wondering does the +crit strike% from weapon mastery stack with amas Crit Strike (from Insight)??
sor for the little hyjack :P|||crit is crit and adds up. it is different from deadly strike of course.|||There has been shifts in more recent times though - for example the radical shift of pvm ww barbarian dynamics toward dual wield usage, since rik's legendary guide was released.|||Quote:
