Hi guys, two questions about my pvm throwing barb, any help is appreciated.
Would it be better if I used atma's or highlord's? Also, any tips on equipment?
Equipment:
Fortitude Great Hauberk
Laying of Hands
Nosferatu's Coil
Dual Gimmershreds
Gore Riders
Um'ed Arreats
Raven Frost
Dual Leach ring with other mods
You can only have one active curse at a time, so my equipment wouldn't interfere with atma's
I don't know if this matters much but...
Mercenary Equipment
Pride Eth Cv
3.5k Defense Fort
Andy Visage (Take this off, can't wear fort)
Also, would it be worth it to reroll throwing weapons?
And again, any help is appreciated. |||Eth Lacerator winged axe x 2
Not only are they faster than Dual Glimmers but they will do more damage and have 33% chance to cast amplify damage built in which would allow you to use Highlords Wrath for 20 More ias and some DS.
Dual Glimmers on switch is great though for those physical immunes.
And yes most certainly rare throwing weapons can beat any unique hands down with mods such as quickness, Fools and cruel and replenish on a eth rare can get some insane damage.|||razortail for sure!
faith merc!
bone or principle armor for some ctc shenanigans
I prefer ghouldhide over loh
dream barb helm, guillame's, or 3s barb helm with ed/ias or max/ias jewels!
favorite weapon is ethy warshikes for more ctc shenanigans!|||Alright thanks, I'm rerolling throwing spears now. Do the mods matter if it's normal? If I get a good mod I plan to upgrade it to a winged harpoon.|||Honestly, I have yet to make a lv 30+ throwing barb (in the process atm) but I plan on using Enigma. Mainly for the teleport. If you can kite faster/better you can kill faster/better (kiting is running and hitting and running and hitting etc.) I'm assuming that you will be using dthrow meaning that block is none of your concern. You could (although this may be stuipid) use Gimmer on left and Lacerator on right. Thus no wep switch other than +3 warcries weps for prebuff. although the dmg output for both weps would be out of whack...|||I kind of like killing everything in the path, but yeah, enigma sounds better for getting around.
Gimmershreds and Lacerator? Sounds weird. Amplify damage doesn't help elemental damage, which is Gimmershreds main strength. Although the damage is higher than Lacerator itself, I think Lacerator would be better with something like Warshrike.|||@Damric
Ghoulhide: This glove lacks IAS and with undead being highly physical resistant it becomes pointless to increase the ED even further to compensate. They also have low life compared to other monsters so if you can break their immunity the undead damage isn't very effective.
Guillames: The main strengths of this helm is CB and deadlystrike . CB is nerfed on ranged items and deadly strike will already be high so making this helm rather ****ty for general play.
Dream: I don't know why this was suggest considering its main selling point is holy shock and thats severely lacking without being energised.
Everything else I Agree with considering equip.
My thrower would use.
Stats
120 Str (with Gear)
100 Vita (Without Gear)
200+ dex /Rest
Note
Throwing weapons receive ED bonus from str and dex so its best to put all extra points into dex for the bonus AR and defense.
Skills
20 Throwing mastery
20 Double Swing
20 Double Throw
20 Battle Orders
1 Battle command
1 to all non weapon passives
x to leap
Points can be taken from double throw if you have alot of attack rating as it only gives percentile bonuses to ar with additional levels.
Gear
Arreats with a 40/15 (15 IAS will do until then)
Fortitude
LoH or 20 ias hitpower gloves with stats
Razortail
Gores
Highlords
Raven+Raven
Torch + Anni
Merc will use faith with 15 fant
Weapons
To note I will use all perfectly spawned items.
Each weapon set has these stats already from equipment with the above set up.
63% Effective DS
15 OW
33 Pierce
I will list the breakpoints and damage with fant.
Eth Dual Warshrikes - 1364 - 2328 - 3.5 FPS attack (7.14 attacks per second)
***97% DS and 88% Pierce
Eth Dual Lacerators - 355-3200 - 4 FPS attack ( 6.25 attack per second)
Non Eth Dual Glimmers - 527-2339 - 4.5 FPS attack (5.55 attacks per second)
This is before elemental damage but the other two
A good weapon also are
Eth Upped The Scalper
+150-200% Enhanced Damage (varies)
33% Chance Of Open Wounds
+4 To Mana After Each Kill
20% Increased Attack Speed
25% Bonus To Attack Rating
4-6% Life Stolen Per Hit (varies)
Replenishes Quantity [1 in 3 sec.]
Damage
757-3406
Frames
4.5 attacks per second.|||The reason to use a dream or guillames has to do with your high attack speed:
Let's assume dual warshikes for 3.5fpa with an average weapon damage of 13k per second. (this is all using the figures you provided).
Dream adds 1-648 unsynergized, adding 2300 average per second, a nice increase and will take care of PI's so you can use warshikes.
Yes, crushing blow is only 1/2 effective on ranged weapons. but when you are throwing at 3.5fpa, you are hitting a cb way more often. This is why strafers with high cb can take down act bosses so fast.
Another two helms I did not mention: Giant skull, and Crafted blood helm.
Giant skull has knockback, crushing blow, str bonus, and TWO sockets. You can put two 30+ max damage jewels in this thing for some serious damage boost.
The ultimate helm is the crafted blood helm:
I have one with visionary mod, 10% deadly strike, and two barb combat skills. they can also have 2 sockets. They come with life leech and +life.
In 1.13 do you really need Arreat's? In 1.10 they gave you an annihilous (at which time I retired my arreat's). In 1.11 they gave you the hellfire torch. How much more stacked resists and skills do you need? Just something to think about.
I like ghoulhide, not for the low damage increase, but for the +800 raw attack rating versus undead (think angellics bonus).|||Quote:

Are you really using only eth weapons for normal pvm play.
What you do when these run out (with max speed you throw both hands in ~60 seconds, for typical pvm those might last couple mins)? How many eth sets you have in stash?|||I alternate between weapon switch non eth glimmers and eth lacerators, I never really need the extra 6 levels of bo.
