Best place to find Oath base? Best Base?

Hello all, I play single player and have a farily geared java zon and barbarian.

I currently doing Travincal runs on my barbarian using berserker with a grief PB and a shield.

I intend to go WW or frenzy and am looking to made an oath for that offhand weapon.

I am able to kill most anything on players 8, and have been doing cows on my zon all day (with the lowest MF i can wear) trying to find a good base. I was able to find a ethereal colossus sword but got 5 sockets through cubing (will save for doom when i get the runes?).

I am getting anxious to make this offhand and start my new build but am unable to find an acceptable base!

It is my understanding that with Grief PB MH the best offhand I can get for Oath is a Colossus sword or a balrog blade.

Is there anything I am missing? Would it be a mistake to make it in a cryptic sword or conquest if I get the drop?

additionally where would be the best place to farm these?|||For either Frenzy or Whirlwind, you could hit the max attack speed with a Colossus Sword; since it does more damage than any other sword, it'd be the optimal choice.

And for acquiring such an item?

Makes sense about the CS. 50ias on a colossus sword just barely makes the cut for a 2 fpa whirlwind, so (if a weapon speed calculator is to be believed) it's the clear winner.

I don't know much about single player, but it would make sense to hold out for the very best possible base given the relative scarcity of the runes.

Cows give good odds on weap81, but if he wants better drops in general while preserving these odds, he should probably farm Ancient Tunnels and WS1-3 also. This is assuming a javazon with no infinity.|||I have no infinity, so I cannot run AT or WSK on players 8.

With that being said, cows still my best option?



By the way runes aren't as bad as you'd think, I've been at it for a month or so and have found Lo Cham and Ohm.|||CS is obviously the best choice, but if you get a CB or Balrog then go ahead and use that (difference is small enough). Cryptic has low damage and Conquest is range 0 so stay away from those.

ATMA says cows have the best chance to drop those 3, so continue with that.|||Just kill more cows. IIRC an item has a 1/20 chance of being ethereal (assuming it can be ethereal) so finding 15 to 25 non-eth swords in a row is really not that rare.|||Quote:

Those drops just seem really lucky. I don't know whether you can count on more. I've found 2, maybe three high runes playing d2... even though realms games are rarely full, their odds are ridiculous in the best cases.

The are no lightning immunes in AT. That's why I mentioned it. You might be thinking of Mausoleum, in which there are only LI's. I guess I agree with not trying WSK now, since the LI spawns there are generally the most dangerous (scarabs and souls).|||Quote:

There are no naturally Cold Immune monsters in AT, The skeletal mages are always light immune in the AT.|||Yes I am very limited by lightning immune mobs, I could potentially play chaost at P8 if it weren't for light immunes. Light immunes in WSK, AT, almost everywhere but cows (except for bosses).

I can clear all of these places as I am a java/strafe hybrid but I can not do them on players 8 for maximum white item drops.|||The drop chance from a p3 to a p8 standpoint isn't going to be a huge increase, so if you can't handle p8 just do p3. It may actually get you better results as you can kill a lot faster.
