Battle net Barb Rune hunter (Trav)

Okay Ive read builds and stickies and Im still scratching my head over what I should be aiming for.

Firstly I play on bnet (hardcore) but play under certain rules to try and stay as legit as possible. This includes not playing with anyone who trades publicly or using sites that support bot and dupe trades. Mainly multi playing with afew friends from a group. Also no multi boxing. I do allow myself to play in public games but avoid partying.

My main character at the moment is a Frenzy barb level 88. As I play solo quite a lot and require certain runes for improving my equipment I have started a little trav run project. I am currently aiming for 1000 trav runs. So my games are over 3 minutes I also finish on eld Shenk and that also gives me a target to get full juvs.

I am currently out of respecs but could run for tokens no problem when I decide on my new setup and build.

Before getting onto my build and Items, I would like to ask a question about trav running. As I can not get 3 player games in a solo environment is it worth me gate crashing pubby games with 3 or more people and using them? Or is 1 player games really not that much different? I am currently on 220 runs and have so far found pul, gul and um. I am not sure if this is good or bad, maybe a sp player can fill me in.

Okay now onto my gear and skills. As I said im currently geared for frenzy, mainly because I would also like to take this baba for uber trist. So would it be more beneficial and easier to switch too whirlwind or berserk and concentrate on trav or is Frenzy still a good choice? My current build is slightly messed up because at first I was gearing for axes but a cubed Lo rune and pb meant I switched to swords.

I use no merc (no need juv drinking merc in trav ty) and I have a huge issue wish any item that adds cold damage. I hate to not be able to hork. I do have a lot off muled items so let me know on anything that I can improve on.

I roll with max resists apart from pr which is 40 or something and 3.5k life after battle order.

So thats all I can think off at the moment. Looking for general help on trav running, builds, equips, strats.

Thanks.|||Here's a thread about a single player double swing barb I made a while back. Decently effective with "cheap" gear. You can change up the skills a little and go with dual babas for increased magic find.

Gear:

MDR items are very helpful on Trav Barbs, especially in HC... Helps negate elemental spells they throw at you... I aim for at least 50 MDR, along with max resists, for safety on melee chars...

Gladiator's Bane, the ultimate HC survival armor... MDR/PDR, Hit Recovery, Poison Reduction, Cannot Be Frozen... Would allow you to change belts... Socket with a Sol for more PDR or a Resist/ IAS jewel...



String of Ears... MDR, DR%, Life leech, 4 rows... Cheap but effective... My favorite HC melee belt...

Dwarf Star ring... MDR, life, fire sorb, xtra gold... Just 1 makes a difference, but 2 could get you 30 MDR...|||Well I managed to get a token and respeced my skills and tweaked my gear. I also use my merc more activly now. The gladiator bane is a great idea thanks.|||Gladiator is amazing.|||The best I can do at the moment was this:

tals hlem (still, hoping to switch out too a guilames or arreats)

The helm switching I believe is needed badly. I also have a 15%dr strings I could go too, but the str from nos means I can use my gores (str charms not a problem though)

I also tried out public games did about 15-20 I think. Not enough runs to see the drop worthwhile but there was an obvious difference in loot. My only problem with it is i feel like im rushing in public games and also mfing in bot games feels wrong to me. I may move onto baal walks as 1p wsk2/3/ is good enough at 1 player.|||If you want to be a runehunter go for max dmg setup and use find item on corpses. You will need lots of mana potions though if you are planning on doing that. Good luck with all that.
