Please help me for my mf barb.

Hello everyone, here is my problem:

i started a mf barb a few time ago and after getting all the stuff i wanted on him, i came to realise that he is kinda weak....he is curently level 84.

my barb's skills: 20 ww / 20 pole arm mastery / 20 bo / 20 shout .

strengh: enough for gear, dex same, vit all the rest.

gear: helm: arreat face

armor: archonte plate 15 ed enigma

weapon: tombreaver 268ed , + 80 ias after 2 sox.

gloves: chancies

belt: upg goldwrap

boots: war travelers

amu: metalgrid

rings: ravenlore 19 215 and manald.

and i have a low torch in inventory and gheed 30.

i got a double wizziez in switch for tele.

my merc is a might merc with upg shaftstop, eth cv insight and vampire gaze.

i think im overdoing on the mf part so im killing really slowely when there is more than 2 people in the game...

Please help me improve him THANK YOU!|||What areas are you running? You could swap the chance guards for Laying of Hands or Gravepalm for a bit more damage. I'm too lazy to add up how much MF you have, but 250 is a reasonable number to have.|||Thank you for taking a look on my case!

My goal is to run andy, invok, meph, diablo, pindle, the 2 on the 1st wp of act 5 and baal.

Perhaps the pit sometimes.

I got about 300 mf at the moment, i was thinking about taking off wt and putting gore rider instead. Or / and, as you said, replace chancies with laying of hands.

What do you think?|||Tomb Reaver is nice MF weapon but dual wield Grief/Beast zerkers will net you much more dmg overall. You don't have any deadly strike on your character except mastery bonus. That lowers your overall dmg output too. Get Highlord's Wrath for that. You can also socket wizzies with Ist runes for nice horking/teleporting switch.

Myself I use Suicide Branches for their +1skill and 50 fcr like Wizzy. They help BO buff and add you higher level Find item skill. Wizzy is good due to the mana it provides. Your call on switch.

Best improvement you can do with rings: get 10fcr ring with mana/life leech and MF. i know those would be hard to come by but one of those should do the trick. Since you have Areat's face mana leech would be priority. 10 fcr is needed for 105 fcr breakpoint on switch. Also ditch Ravenfrost. CBF and nice seem good but they aren't. You are teleporting so FRW doesn't really matter. Raven has cold dmg so it causes many corpses to shatter and main idea about MF barb is to have hork Find Item for additional drops.

Get one mana leech/10fcr ring and another ring with dual leech/ar or dual leech/mana. Those should do the trick.

Fill inventory with 7MF small charms and attack rating/life grand charms. Aim somewhere around 300 MF on main and 2 Ists in weapons on switch should net you 360 what is perfectly fine. LoH > Chancies. Or Ghoulhide for undead targets. Chancies don't have too much place in this build.

Give merc reaper's tool and other gear that allows him to hit faster - eg Treachery for 45 IAS and 15IAS jool in Vampire Gaze. With Decrep from reaper's you dmg will go up significantly.

tl; dr:

Get Grief/Beast + HLW, gieb merc Reaper's tool and get better rings.

There is much more room for optimization. I can probably think about how to increase efficiency of your barb if you are interested to hear about it..|||Wow thank you for answering!

yes i want to know how to improve my barb ^^

the main idea was to build a barb around tombreaver and enigma, i'll be glad to hear your advices !|||Sure.

Tomb Reaver seems nice cause of it's initial MF but the thing is that in higher player settings it doesn't hit hard enough. Especially with low deadly strike.

What you should aim for when building your barb:

1. Dmg and attack rating. They are most important for barb same as +skills for sorceress.

That includes deadly strike that helps your total dmg output.

2. Source of teleport for fast traveling. I see you have enigma so that is fixed. And idea of tp switch is also good. Just make sure you aim for 105 fcr on switch. You can of course put Ist runes in weapons on your switch to get additional MF. Only choice remains Wizzy vs Suicide Branch and I'll leave that choice to you.

3. Enough leech to survive nasty spawns. My barb has 11% life leech and 9% mana leech and it's enough to survive Conviction High Council in 8 player game without need for potions.

4. MF, 75 FR and LR - pretty easy to understand why.

Weapons are where most of your dmg comes from (doh). Tomby in nice but I'd really go with axes. There are plenty of choices for those. WW with one hander hits only once each 4 frames and dual weild will net you more dmg 99.996% times.

Grief BA - hands down best weapon that you can get. You don't need perfect one, just one that reached final WW breakpoin (+34 IAS or more). It has its own 20% DS, huge dmg and additional %dmg to demons. You can't go wrong with dual Grief.

BotD BA - Great weapon due to it's dual leech and huge dmg. It lacks deadly strike and base can be a bit hard to find, but from my understanding of b-net economy Lo > Zod? in that case dual BotD zerkers can't be wrong either.

Beast BA - nice support weapon, but if Ber is out of reach you can settle for things above.

Oath BA - it isn't half as bad with good roll, but finding base is pretty hard.

Death Cleaver - I used it before. It's not damaging as other axes but I'd bet that it dual DCleavers would net you more dmg then Tomby. Plus they have open socket so you can throw Pskull for dual leech or eth rune for added -25% deff. 66 DS on them is really nice.

I chose zerkers cause they have range 3, a lot options is viable with them and they have resell value.

My barb uses following gear:

Areat's face (Ptopaz) - pretty easy to figure out why

HLW - 33% DS adds nice amount of dmg. 20 IAS is nice for Berserk when you need to kill PIs and 35LR is just icing on cake.

Grief/Beast BAs - I used oath BA and Death clever with eth rune. Grief/Beast is around 60% faster just for your comparison.

Enigma

10fcr ring with man leech - for 105 fcr switch and leech for survivability.

dual leech with mana - for teleporting since I don't use Wizzies for mana.

LoH - 350% ED to demons is stronger then fortitude. I wouldn't use 40MF chancies over Forti

War Travelers: 50 MF and nice dmg

Belt: Goldwrap for MF or SoE for great survivability mods.

Charms section would be Gheed, enough MF small charms to hit ~250 - 300 MF and rest into AR/Life grand charms. Of course torch/anni would help too. They shouldn't be expensive. Max/Ar/life are expensive ones.

As for stat and skill section...

Ignore Shout. In PvM deffense doesn't matter. rather pump your Find Item to 20. Take one point wonders from mastery tree and Berserks for PI solution.

Stats... Well I went for different approach then most people. Enough Vita to hit 3000 life after BO, enough dex to reach 10.000 AR and then all in str for added dmg. It's unusual but if you think outside box, does it have any means of having 8000 life when critters can't do more then 1000 dmg total to you? With 3000 life there aren't any instakills. Of course you can go for max Vita but I would recommend enough dex to reach 10000 ar.

Hope that helps. And one last thing: don't use Ravenfrost. It's cold dmg causes monsters to shatter and leaves you with only 70% corpses you would have for horking.

Lack of CBF might seem like problem for this build but it's just the oposite. When you WW slowly you get more hitchecks and have better control over WW.

Phew, that was exhausting Hope it gives you some ideas.|||well, i guess ill have to forget about my tomb reaver barb build :<

and yes, it was really inspiring ^^

as i have most of the items above, ill try out this dual axes barb.

Ill send feedbacks in a few time.

Thank you for all Sir !|||Another question :

as i'm doing only pvm mf, what do you think of dual pb grief?

Will i be as efficient as going ba grief beast?

If not, what do you think of dual pb i should go to be as close as "killing-speed" as ba beast grief?

I find it more classy to hold 2 pb than 2 ba to be honest.

Thank you for helping!|||Grief/Grief PB works as well. They do slightly less damage than BAs, but not enough that you'd notice that much. Also, you never have to repair them. However, Beast gives you a nice AR boost which can be hard to come by on an MF Barb.|||hey..a while back i came across just such a barb...the catch is he doesnt kill a thing...youre a2 my preference does all the killing pretty fun only rly have trouble on and and chaos can b a pain but i just tele to the seals kill the boss and move on to the next one...skill layout and gear to follow:

SKILLZ:

20 shout obvious

20 battle orders

1 battle command

1 find potion

enough to have 50% chance to find item on swap ill explain in gear

10 warcry

enough in shout with +skillz to hit 94% drop in defense since thats all u can drop bosses

break the rest up as u see fit between increased stamina speed natural resistance and iron skin...u wanna shoot for the most res u can have with weps on swap

GEAR:

Enigma

Dual Hoto for fcr and res while teleing and spam wc

2x 6isted crystal swords

wartravs

ammy and rings are as u see fit but i use +mana fcr magic rings and a +3wc fcr magic ammy

arreats os with ist

chancies

9xwarcry gcs with life mod

anni

torch

and a few mf scs

i lvld my merc from like lvl 58 i believe got a might aura on him gear is as follows...i dont have life leech for him but i sacrificed that for killing speed and have swapped helms a couple times and like my choice for helm now

two words(crushing blow)

MERC GREAR:

Fort

Obedience in a Cryptic axe

helms i started with a guilames but switched to an eth giant skull with 2 15%ias 40% ED jewels kills pretty fast

about 9k dmg in all

i leave u to figure out how to run him cuz its fairly simple build i hope u enjoy
