A question

[:1]Im planning doing a berserk barb. Now i had a few questions:

1. 20 points in a synergy gives more dmg than 20 in a mastery. But mastery also gives AR so which would work out better?

2. Can i dual wield 2 colossus blades?

3. What merc would be better, an act 1 rouge with faith, ice or some other bow, act 2 might merc with pride or doom, act 2 prayer merc with insight for infinite life and mana, act 2 freeze merc with something or act 5 merc with lawbringer.|||Quote:

Not quite sure if the Crits from weapon mastery helps with Berserk skill, but the AR bonus does help a little. However, a level 20 Berserk skill alone and not taking into account any +skill gear you may have, gives 385% AR. That coupled with any AR bonus you may have (like Angelic amulet & ring combo for example) should be enough for your attacks to connect.

That is pretty much how I see it, and I will let other more knowledgeable members to answer this question if you prefer a more direct answer.

Yes you can, but doesn't Berserk works only with 1 weapon even if you are dual-wielding? Plus Berserk skill converts the physical dmg you do into magical dmg (similar but not quite the same as a paladin's Vengeance skill) and leaving you with Zero defense. I would think a 1-handed high dmg weapon with shield for block (since you have no defense when using Berserk) would be best.

I would not recommend act 1 mercs since I do not see how any of the possible gear combinations will help for a berserker. The only useful combo I see is possibly Faith for the added dmg, AR and attack speed bonus. Ice's Holy Freeze aura can be gained from an act 2 merc as well, and he can serve you better as an additional tank to draw some unfriendly fire away from you when you have Zero defense.

Berserk uses 4mana per attack, so I do not think an insight will be overly helpful here if you're thinking of replenishing your blue bulb. A Holy Freeze act 2 merc might be useful when used in conjunction with Pride pole to enhance your physical dmg, but I'm not sure if Berserk skill takes that into account when calculating your physical-to-magical dmg.

A act 5 merc with Lawbringer will work similar to an act 2 Holy Freeze merc with it procs Decrepify and the Sanctuary aura will only help knocking back undead, but not overly helpful IMO unless you're facing undeads with magic immunity.|||Hi Totulotu,

I don't think it's possible to answer your questions (at least 1 and 3) without knowing what you want to do with the guy.

Do you wanna use him for general questing or for MF, and if MF, where?

Is this a respec or a new character?

Twinked or untwinked?|||1. Berserk itself gives you a boatload of AR%, but unless you've got a weapon with Ignores Target Defense I would still max mastery before spending too much in synergies. The crit also helps

2. Since you only hit with one weapon the off-hand weapon needs to have an aura or beneficial mods (resists, MF, FHR, FCR) on it to be of any use.

3. First off, rouge is make-up

A two-handed weapon with a Faith rogue is a popular choice, imo a Grief/Beast setup with a Might or Holy Freeze merc wearing Reaper's Toll or Pride is much better. Like Mutton pointed out, it depends what exactly you want to use him for.
