Ethereal BOTD Thunder Maul, What Build?

I've recently come across this, and it inspires me to make a barbarian since I have yet to make one this season. I've looked thru the guides but I'd like some first hand experiences and testmonials from people who have had success and fun in PVM with certain Barbarian builds. WW comes to mind so far. Thanks for responses.

PVM ONLY for the most part, just to emphasize that part. |||Nevermind. I'm probably going to see how much damage I can manage from the berzerker skill. Should keep me not bored for alittle longer. |||With a Faith merc and 20 IAS somewhere else Conc and Berserk could work. Personally I'd go for a partial titan WW build (enough vit for 3k HP after BO to be safe, rest strength)|||Indeed. That was my first notion. Wasn't sure which of the builds could take on every circumstance the randomness of PvM has to offer. I'm not really one of those -enigma over the rough spots- kinda player. I wanna face anything and everything that may walk in my path.|||With Fort plus T-gods for Gloams, Decrip from Reaper's and some use of War Cry any decent barb build can ride out the rough spots. I'd go that route for Conc or WW. Conc though... meh. I've never found it to be fun or particularly effective.

I'm not a fan of two-handed berserk but it is sometimes challenging and lots of fun. Here I think the extra res and +skills from CoH is a better choice than Fort. A Delirium helm on your merc does wonders to keep the swarms off you. That coupled with War Cry and some Conc here and there and there's no real challenge. It's a real pity that you can't have Insight as well Faith, as mana is the most annoying thing for me about this build.

I'm actually stuck with a Zod myself, which is why I'm theory-crafting. A big two-hander is all I can think of but I haven't found the guts to use it yet (Got the Jah for Faith as well, same deal there :P)|||Lol. Awesome. I'm building WW right now. I like its enemy killing efficiency. A build like this has its disadvantages with such a low range weapon but this doesn't bother me at all. I'm building this guy for me and my style. I mean, a big ethereal thunder maul hammer wielded by Thor himself?(last part obviously conjured by my delusions) Can't beat that.

I had an arreat's laying around. But you are very correct about that delirium. I'm thinking either dream or delirium will be a prime helm for safety. Deli will offer me the most bonus for my skills. Although dream is just a fun fun helm as well. I'll have to weigh each advantage and disadvantage and see what I end up with.

As for the mana problem. I agree. Mana burns and the like drop the efficiency of this build down to ZERO. I'll have to configure some ~damage to mana~ items on my guy to make sure he can keep running smoothly. Potions are always an option too. Thanks for sharing. |||When teleporting with dual hotos theres plenty of mana, and for fast gameplay a generic bvc setup with guillaume and loh is the fastest for clearing stuff.. and a reaper merc already gives decrep so delirium conflicts with damage optimality|||Which is why it's discussed alongside Berserk.

We can talk about optimizing this and that all we want but this thread isn't about that. You really don't have to respond to every barb thread with the enigma/dual hoto/dual grief/guillaume/loh recommendation. We all know it's optimal.|||Yes, but you dont have to teleport over the monsters. You can teleport *into* the monster pack, and what a powerful and spectacular feat it is with a titan ebotd thunder maul barb crushing them with fast wws and fast teles.

In regards to a defined end, be it damage optimality or something else, there exists methodology to determine optimal means to achieve ends. Without defined ends however, there exists no end for the means to imply.|||I'm amazed. You posted your tele-barb vid in the thread that we were discussing trinity-ranger's but not here?

I know enigma's power and I've admittedly abused this power many-a-times when the runeword first came to the scene.

Its just not my play style. I'm going to take that extra 3-8minutes to clear all the monsters I need to clear for my merc and me to proceed safely into the next area. I'm going to run around the act 3 flayer dungeon maze (level 3) till I find that appendage of kalim that I'm missing. I have no intention of skipping over a few parts here and there just to be bored with the build that much faster. I know this has been LOOOONG disagreed and debated about so I'll just leave it at this:

Enigma isn't my style.

I'm not looking to achieve any optimal means to an end. Just play a game I've loved for 10+ years.
