questions about 'find item'

[:1]started a barbarian recently on single player, im currently level 17 and have 1 point in find item with only one source of magic find which is 10%

my questions are:

does magic find contribute to find item? for example i think level1 find item gives 13% or 17% (i forget which) so therefore would mf make this up to 23 or 27?

also, if i were to add points to find item at what stage to the returns become diminishing and of little value?|||Your mf would apply to the second drop as well. Thats what makes barbs good MF'ers. The Find Item percentage is just the chance for a second drop and not an MF boost.|||thankyou

Your magic find would only be 10% at all times, the find item skill with additional points increases your chance for an additional drop and then your magic find factors into what kind of item will drop. So essentially it works like this.

Kill an enemy - 10% magic find is applied, and you may or may not get an item based on drop rates of the enemy, location, etc.

Use find item - Assuming lvl 1 you have a 13% chance of getting an additional item, and magic find is applied so that item may be normal, rare, etc. depending on your luck.

A higher level find item just increases your chances of getting an additional item. So with a level 1 skill you will find an extra item in ~1/10 corpses. With a lvl 20 find item you will find an extra item in ~1/2 corpses. Remember that there are significant diminishing returns for find item after lvl 6 (35% chance). You can check the arreat summit for exact numbers , but normally plus skills from items will work good enough in most cases unless your a full on magic finder.|||If you have the points (like in a WW build) then you can dump 20 points on it. I like to get it up to 50% as that is where I feel it gets wasteful to get higher. However, my WW barb has a 54% chance, which I think is level 30ish.

A good idea is to keep +3 warcry sticks (already typical) on switch to use when you hork corpses. You can also use gull daggers or Ali baba's on switch for extra mf. personally I use 2xHoto, as it is fast for teleporting as well, but that's pretty pricy.
