Pure Find Item Barb?

[:1]whats really good! been away from d2 for a while, trying to get started on the new ladder. i thought, instead of starting up my usual summon necro/blizzard sorc, how about a pure find item barb? the idea would be to load him up with mf, and chill in chaos games hoarking corpses.

anyone ever attempt this? the barb wouldn't be able to kill anything, but would instead clean up chaos games by looting corpses. any recommendations? and of course, everyone else can benefit from your warcries, bo,shout,etc.

I didn't ask the barb about his items, but the most I was able to tell he was using dual ali babas.

I asked him how successful he'd been, and he said he had found a couple hrs, some skill gcs, and other random stuff. So it IS viable, it's just it might get a bit tedious after a while, clicking on body after body. But it does have the non cookie cutter feel, which makes it way cooler than the usual mf stuff.|||Well, I do this. I upped two ali babas and isted them. Gives 300 % mf at my lvl 90. Still u can't seriously kill with those things. But if you use enigma (also insane +mf) and for instance grief + storm u gonna cut opposition in pieces. Just switch to ali babas when u r about to deliver final blow to the boss (mephi, dia, baal).

Another use for them: put them in switch and use them whenever u open a chest in Durance of Hate lvl 2. Lots of good stuff like charms and jewels fall down.|||There's no real need to go full Hork, you can max WW,Hork,BO,and a weapon mastery and have a powerful killer and horker, just keep one set of weapons for horking and one for killing. Also note that FCR affects your hork speed, so make sure and check the breakpoints.|||this barb is pretty successful. i've been hoarking for a couple days, haven't found anything too exciting, but a few good drops, nice charms. i'm picking up a lot of rares in chaos sanc, potentially good pelts, belts, gloves, boots, etc.

i don't wanna bother with getting a mastery or a merc and doing any killing. this is just so fast. especially with all the bots running chaos these days, you can just hoark all the corpses, including the unique, champ, possessed, whatever ones, and meet up in the next game. rinse and repeat.

to make things a little more interesting, i've been collecting large piles of gold and gambilng for amulets and circlets. between hoarking and selling items, you can accumulate tons of gold without having to do trav runs all day. i've also been collecting runes and gems for crafting, just to break the monotony.

the gear is simple - wear as much mf as you can, don't worry about anything else. no weapons, no killing, no res, no need to worry.

one tip is look for chaos games run by sorcs, zons, w/e. hammerdins might use redemption, which clears your favorite corpses. some pallys dont use it, check out the runner and see whats up.

another tip i found useful - get r/w charms, r/w boots, and dump a few points into increased speed. you want to get from corpse to corpse quickly. i don't think teleport/nigma is necessary...

also, when people catch on to what you're doing, they will crowd around you when you're near good corpses. watch out for that. nothing worse than seeing scs and nice rares get scooped up by a lvl 24 druid stalking your barb.

thats pretty much it. it's simple, fun, and literally anyone can make this barb...|||all okay and well and stuffs but you cannot trade those items here you know that right?|||? when did i ever give the slightest idea that i was trading?

1. this is a discussion of a particular barbarian build. we are throwing around ideas for equipment.

2. the items i listed are the ones i ALREADY have, so there wouldn't be any 'trading here'.

3. thanks for your contribution.|||i found some really nice charms using the above method, and was able to hook my barb up with some nicer gear. now he can solo travincal, mephisto, diablo, and baal. here's what i have on him now:

changed up the gear to support teleport, had to give up a little mf but there's plenty left over. he kills pretty quick, lots of crushing blow.

skills look something like this:

1 battle cry

1 war cry

1 leap

its simple. hook the merc up with your warcrys, teleport onto target. battle cry if you want to, otherwise just leap around to stun all nearby monsters. switch to babas to hork the corpses, or before boss dies.

one of the most fun builds i've ever played.

i do have a few questions tho.

seeing as this build relies entirely on the merc to kill, whats the best merc setup?

- Holy Freeze or Might?

- Weapon?

I was thinking of trying something like this: Holy Freeze Merc; Infinity, Dream Helm, Dragon Armor. Thoughts?|||if you go with the ali's you can will with them if you put um's in them for the 25% Chance of Open Wounds with 2 that is 50 you can bleed them to death, and you still get you mf you want|||Just make a normal/avg ww or frenzy or wc mf/gf/maxed or 50% find item barb :S

Based on my experience find item skill is only good for extra gold well... occasionally high runes too

I too agree, speed kill is very important so 2 x Ali-Baba is great secondary weapon (For find item skill)

Items he equipped are upgraded stealskull, enigma, 2 x upgraded chance guards, upgraded goldwrap with Grief PB/LW PB/ 2 x Spirit sword + Faith mercenary very easy to clear the hell mode game @ Travincal 50K to 60K extra gold

Just use gf build(s) from here and tweak few items for faster kill (imo wc barb. is too slow for me) + secondary as 2 x ali-baba for 50% to max find item skill *ahem* and engima shouldn't be too bad mf/gf/find item build
